Energie.Klima.Zukunft. Sind wir noch zu retten?
We discuss with Prof. Franz Josef Radermacher about strategies for effective climate protection and their connection with development policy concerns - and for the current occasion we also ask him to assess the Corona crisis. Franz Josef Radermacher is a mathematician and calculates that the reduction targets for greenhouse gases promised by the states with the Paris climate protection agreement are not enough to achieve the 1.5 degree target. According to this, around 500 billion tons of CO2 are to be saved by 2050, but another 500 billion tons are necessary to close the “Paris gap”. According to Radermacher's book "Der billionjoker", these savings are to be made voluntarily by consumers, but primarily by companies in rich countries as the main cause of climate change through the support of large-scale afforestation measures in the countries of the south. We ask: where are the opportunities, where are the limits of this approach?
