Brot & Rosen: Natur und Stadt: Ende eines Widerspruchs

Der Az W-Schwerpunkt „Brot & Rosen“ stellt vor dem Hintergrund der Corona-Krise die Frage, was wir für ein gutes Leben brauchen. Im Juli können Sie dazu live an zwei Online-Gesprächen mit internationalen Gästen teilnehmen. Eingeschlossen in eine Wohnung ohne Freiraum, vor verschlossenen Parks stehend, ins stadtnahe Grün nur als Autobesitzer*in gelangend, haben die vergangenen Monate erfahrbar gemacht, wie essenziell ein Zugang zur Natur für Menschen ist – und wie ungerecht dieser verteilt ist.
Die Beispiele eines Navarinou Park in Athen, eines Gezi-Park in Istanbul, von Esta es una plaza in Madrid oder eines Längenfeldgartens in Wien zeigen, dass das Bedürfnis nach Grün und Natur ganz besonders vermag, Menschen zu aktivieren: sich zu emanzipieren, sich gemeinschaftlich zu organisieren, sich Stadtraum anzueignen – und diese Räume schließlich auch fortdauernd (in Selbstorganisation) zu pflegen und zu nutzen.
Ein Online-Gespräch über das Potenzial von Natur- und Grünraum als „Inkubator für soziale Aktion“.
Ein Gespräch auch über eine Idee von Architektur und Stadt, die sich nicht als Widerspruch zur Natur sieht, sondern die gesamte kreatürliche Umwelt zum Maßstab nimmt. Gäste:

The Az W focus on Bread & Roses takes as its background the corona crisis to pose the question: What do we need for a good life? In July you can participate in the discussion during two online events with international guests. Locked in an apartment without outdoor space, standing before closed parks, visits to green spaces close to the city only for car-owners… The past months have shown how vital access to nature is for people, and how unequal this access is. The example of a Navarinou Park in Athens, a Gezi Park in Istanbul, of Esta es una Plaza in Madrid or a Längenfeldgarten in Vienna show that the need for green space and natural surroundings can activate people into emancipating themselves, organising communally and appropriating urban space — and subsequently the continued (self-organised) care and use of these space. An online conversation on the potential of nature and green space as an incubator for social action. A conversation, too, about a concept of architecture and urban space that is not at odds with nature but that takes the entire natural environment as a yardstick.
